In 1987 I made a burin slab for fun, as if it were a finding of a detail in the engraving of San Girolamo discarded by Dürer and donated to one of his Italian contemporaries who wrote the following statement on a 'cartouche' slab:
"What Durero told me to prefer for San Girolamo but, for a reason that was unknown to me, he did not use"
